ICON Pinas: December 2020 Transparency Report

2020 is now in the books and this past December was our busiest and most productive month to date for ICON Pinas. Let’s dive right into it!

DAOcolors AMA
To help commemorate the launch of the much anticipated DAOcolors game from ICONbet, ICON Pinas hosted a Know My DApps AMA! event with the developers, @Geo_Dude and @shikamarumind.
The DAOcolors AMA took place on the ICON Pinas Telegram chat, with a total prize pool of 500 ICX rewarded to community members.
This was a wonderful way to start sharing DAOcolors with our local community members.

CoinValue Community AMA
Our team also took part in an additional AMA event in December, this time with CoinValue Community.
The topics of focus during this AMA event were ICON and also DAOcolors.
Upon completion of this AMA, the response we received from community members attending was generally very positive.
As always, we’re looking forward to participating in even more AMA events in the future to help further promote ICON to more and more communities out there.

DAOcolors Game Night Q&A
In addition to the DAOcolors AMA event, our team also hosted a Game Night Q&A event, which took place the following day, on December 3.
Participants had an opportunity to ask questions about DAOcolors and also the chance to win an additional 200 ICX in prizes.

Donation Drive
During mid-December, ICON Pinas community was very blessed to have had the opportunity to team up with Sir Bill Beltran, to help organize a Donation Drive in Caloocan City.
Words can’t express how thankful and appreciative our entire community is to the many volunteers who helped donate to this wonderful initiative. Special shout out goes to: ICONbet developers and community, ICON Pinas community, ICONists, and more!
With your generosity and support, we were able to provide relief goods to 200 families!
And an additional special shout out to the following ICON Pinas community members who volunteered their time and were able to make it out to the event!
Together, we can indeed make a difference!
Have a Marvelous Christmas! Design Contest
With the Christmas season fast approaching, ICON Pinas teamed up with P-Rep team ReliantNode to collaborate on a Marvelous Design Contest event, which we called:
Have a #MarvelousChristmas
ICONists were encouraged to submit their own unique Marvelous designs on Twitter, with winners getting rewarded ICX tokens so that they could send the gift of Marvelous to their family and friends, just in time for Christmas (while also winning some ICX for themselves too)!
Congrats to all the winners!
Total prize pool was 500 ICX.
ICON KABOG!
Our team continues to host ICON KABOG!, featuring our quiz master miss Charlotte, twice per week (Friday and Saturday night), on our Telegram chat.
Here are some agendas for a few ICON KABOG! events that took place in December, with two special events featuring DAOcolors on December 6 and December 7:
ICON KABOG! has become a featured event and core staple each week for the ICON Pinas community, doing much to help us build camaraderie and boost engagement from active users on Telegram.
Our team remains excited and is very much looking forward to hosting many more ICON KABOG! events in the future. Moving forward from here, we’ll continue looking for new ideas and ways to spice up ICON KABOG! to keep it fresh and interesting for all community members.
ICX News Ngayon Quiz Time
Similar to ICON KABOG!, our team is also finding success with ICX News Ngayon Quiz Time, which is typically hosted weekly (every weekend) on our Facebook page.
Each week, there is a quiz (5 multiple choice questions) on the latest episode of ICX News Ngayon, and a reward of 100 PHP via load (or ICX tokens) is rewarded to community members who are able to answer all the questions correctly.

Boosting engagement on Facebook is important to our long-term goals on this social media platform, and ICX News Ngayon Quiz Time is proving to be an important piece in helping us to solve that challenging puzzle.

Telegram Growth
There are currently 7,857 members on the ICON Pinas Telegram chat, which increased from 6,923, previously.
YouTube Growth
The ICON Pinas YouTube channel now has 2,220 subscribers (up from 1,867, previously).

In total, 7 new YouTube videos were published by our team in December:

Twitter Growth
On Twitter, ICON Pinas experienced some more modest growth this month, as our followers have increased to 3,251 (up from 3,203, previously).

In December, our team published only a single article on Medium:
Instagram Growth
We currently have 131 followers on Instagram (up from 127, previously).
Perhaps surprisingly, thanks to our in-person Donation Drive event, the ICON Pinas actually had an opportunity to update our Instagram this month with some fresh photos.
We definitely are looking forward to the day when we can go outside, interact with people, and share many more fun photos with ICONists. Until then, Instagram growth remains more of a long-term plan for us at ICON Pinas.
Facebook Growth
At the conclusion of December, the ICON Pinas Facebook page has achieved 56,958 likes and 57,089 total follows (down from 57,056 likes and 57,187 total follows, previously).
Similar to the past few months, our team has not been active with FB marketing ads, as our focus has shifted elsewhere, prioritizing other approaches for growth (e.g., merch craze events, giveaways on Twitter, stronger focus on Telegram and YouTube growth, etc.). Our lessened marketing activity on FB explains the decrease in both the number of likes and followers this month on the ICON Pinas page.
We do feel that having an active presence on Facebook is important, but in terms of marketing budget, at this time, we remain confident that concentrating our spending and efforts on some of the other social media platforms continues to be the right move.
Marketing Campaigns
ICON Pinas Merchandise
In an effort to enhance our community building efforts (particularly in the Philippines), ICON Pinas is in the development stage of designing an online merch store.
We are making efforts to boost our brand awareness, both in the digital world, as well as the real world.
The winners of last month’s ICON Pinas Merch Craze! event were sent their t-shirts, just in time for Christmas!

Bring Me An ICONista!
In December, ICON Pinas continued hosting the Bring Me An ICONista! referral event, periodically, on Telegram.
You never know who you’ll get with these type of events (results can be a mixed bag at times), but we still think it’s worth the effort to host them since gaining high quality members is so invaluable.
At this stage, it also should go without saying just how important we feel it is to attract new users into our Telegram chat — This is the social media platform where our team and community are most active and engaged.
Giveaways
Furthermore, team member Jenny has continued to host giveaways on Twitter, as a means of attracting and encouraging an entirely new/different audience to learn more about ICON.

Efforts are made to form strong friendships and bonds by offering free promotions to other giveaway hosts and Twitter community members.
And as always, we are open to trying out new ideas and approaches so that we can keep on growing ICON.
Merch Store
The ICON Pinas merch store website made solid progress this month, with the home page and shop sections being drafted out on a staging site.

At the conclusion of the month, our team has shifted focus on testing & debugging payment solutions. We anticipate needing an additional 1–2 months to complete the website.
Spending
ICON Pinas was very fortunate to have our second Grant Application approved by ICON Foundation in October, which continues to help our hyper-growth efforts TREMENDOUSLY.
Again, many thanks to ICON Foundation for all their support, because without their help and support, none of what we achieved to date would have been possible!
Also, many thanks to our voters who continue to support us through the ups and downs! Your loyalty means more to us than you know!
Total monthly expenses in December included the following:
- Merchandise (materials, printing, shipping) = 22,721 PHP (~473 USD)
- Marketing, events, and community tips = 94,465 PHP (~1,967 USD)
- Node and infrastructure support = 36,105 PHP (~750 USD)
- Productivity Software and tools = 9,272 PHP (~193 USD)
- Business, Legal, Consultation services = 8,336 PHP (~174 USD)
- Donation Drive = 39,374 PHP (~820 USD)
For a subtotal of: 4,377 USD
Our team continued printing + shipping a lot of ICON Pinas t-shirts this month, to both staff and community members. We are hoping this effort will help us better market and promote ICON in the real world.
As shared earlier, there were many events that took place this month coinciding with the release of DAOcolors, and we are most thankful to ICONbet Community and @Geo_Dude for helping to sponsor these activities.
Salaries (and Christmas bonuses) paid out in December included the following:
- Core-team total staff wages = 50,751 PHP (~1,057 USD)
For a subtotal of: 1,057 USD
With all that being said, our team is long ICX tokens (we truly do believe in ICON), and we try our best not to sell any of our own personal holdings on exchanges/market, as much as possible. Outside of selling ICX tokens to pay for necessary services and staff salaries, any remaining rewards accrued (i.e., income earned via ICX tokens) were staked.
P-Rep Ranking
At the conclusion of December, ICON Pinas was ranked #18 among global P-Reps on the ICON Network.
At month’s end, ICON Pinas has racked up 5,567,484 votes (an increase from 4,798,767 votes, previously).
Similar to past months, at this time, we would really like to say THANK YOU and give a special shout out to our voters — We owe a deep gratitude for your trust and confidence in our team!

We sincerely hope that after reporting this month’s transparency report, ICONists will agree that we’ve been a very productive P-Rep team that is well-deserving of all votes we’ve received to date.
ICON Pinas is most passionate about ICON (this is the ONLY blockchain project we focus on!) and we are dedicated to working as hard as we possibly can to help accelerate growth and mainstream adoption.
